Update on 1180 MW Bhikki District Sheikupura Power Plant

One of the three generators to be used for power generation at Bhikki Power Plant in District Sheikupura has been delivered at site where work for its installation will commence very soon.

Manufactured by the General Electric (GE), the generator weighing 380 tons has been imported from New York. Three turbines will also be installed along with as many generators for generation of 1180 Mega Watts of power at Bhikki Power Plant. One of these 9HA gas turbines has reached Pakistan from France and will arrive at site next week. This gas turbine has been included in the Guinness Book of world records because of its efficiency. The same 9HA gas turbine, manufactured by the General Electric (GE), has been used at the Beauchene Power Plant
in France which has been rated as the best power generation plant because of its 62.22 per cent efficiency.

Civil work of the Bhikki power plant is also in full swing and so far, more than 50 per cent of the construction work has been completed. The plant will start production early 2017 and will be contributing 750 Mega Watts of power in the national grid by the coming summer season. It will produce power to its full capacity by the end of next year.
