Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Wednesday that provincial government was going to formally inaugurate the Swat Expressway on August 23 simultaneously at Karnal Sher Khan Interchange and Malakand.
An official handout said that he was presiding over a meeting to shape up developmental strategy of the province. The chief minister said that the government had different packages for various zones in the province.
The meeting was told that in the northern zone, there would be small and medium hydel power generation projects and while for the central and southern parts there would be different packages of developmental schemes in various sectors, said a handout.
It said the projects included rail and road communication, infrastructure development, hydel power generation, housing, irrigation, oil refinery, cement industry and setting up small, medium and big industrial units in different industrial zones in the province.
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak directed officials to finalise procedural requirements to properly execute the developmental strategy in the province. He said the provincial government had its own resources and would also attract foreign investors for its mega projects in the province. Pervez Khattak said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had potential advantages and different regions had different advantages so the government should stay focused on these advantages.
“Hopefully the developmental strategy evolved by our government would enhance industrialisation and generate jobs,” he added. The chief minister said that his government had planned to exploit the resources of the province for the benefit of people, which he added would lead to the overall development of the province.
“Our ultimate goal is to widen the resource base of the province making it to stand on its own feet and the resources generated thus could be spent on the development and welfare of the people,” he added
