Was it a Clash between Jamiat (IJT) and Pukhtoon in Panjab Universty ?

NAWAZ SHARIF TRYING TO SPARK ETHNIC AND REGIONAL HATRED TO SERVE THEIR NARROW INTERESTS TO MAXIMIZE VOTES IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CONSTITUENCIES


Clash in the Punjab University is being portrayed as the clash between Jamiat and the Pukhtoon Students, which is not true. Keeping aside who caused this to happen, it was clash between Islami Jamiat Talba and Pukhtoon Students Federation, a student wing of the ANP.

Pukhtoon Nationalists cannot be given the mandate to represent ...the entire Pukhtoon students, but same was the target of the former Vice Chancellor of PU with the implicit understanding of the Sharif Government. Fast and furious allegations by Rana Sanaullah against Jamiat tells the whole story. For its narrow objective of self-interest, the Sharif Government has the target to divide the nation on regional and ethnic lines to maximize its votes in Punjab.

This is not a new phenomenon for Nawaz Sharif. The same was done in the case of Kalabagh Dam, in his earlier government. He played a fixed match with the nationalists of Sindh and NWFP to spark controversies on it. Due to this Kalabagh Dam Project had to be abandoned. Nawaz Sharif and the Nationalists won, but the nation lost a huge reservoir of electricity, and we are facing the consequences of electricity shortage.

I would like to bring the historical fact that the Kalabagh Dam project had already been kicked start during Zulfiqar Ali Government, and NESPAK had started designing the project. Wali Khan started campaign against this project during the Zia Regime and Nawaz Sharif further worsened the situation, when he came into power in 1988.

Now again, both ANP and Nawaz Sharif are in hand in glove, and have started the same game to ignite regional and ethnic hatred. The reason being that both are feeling their popularity to decline.
Igniting ethnic hate and regional tensions are dangerous for the integrity of the country and we all need to understand this.

National Calligraphy Exhibition 2017 held in Alhamra Art Complex Lahore

Ghazali Education Trust, with the collaboration of National College of Arts, organized a three days calligraphy exhibition at Alhamra Art Complex.

CM Punjab Inaugurated central data center for the computerized data of Land Record Authority

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated state-of-the-art central data center for the computerized data of rural estates and Punjab Land Record Authority at Arfa Software Technology Park yesterday.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister said that Punjab government has crossed an important milestone by launching modern system of Land Record Management and Information System.
Under this latest system, socio- economic change has occurred; inheritance rights of the citizens protected and all the matters of land are being disposed amicably.

He said that under this system, land record centers are fully active in 143 tehsils of the province and best services are being provided to the people regarding the matters of land under one roof.
He said that people have got rid of Patwari culture under this new system. He said that matters of ownership deed and mutation of land have become free of corruption and family disputes regarding land have been eliminated.

PM Punjab Presided a Meeting Over Health Reforms

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over a three hours long meeting earlier today which reviewed in detail steps for public health reforms programme especially elimination of spurious and substandard medicines. The meeting decided to amend Drug Act 1976, under which, punishments will be made deterrent against those involved in manufacturing and sale of fake medicines and fines will be increased for curbing such elements. The meeting gave approval to setting up of Drug Regulatory Authority. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that spurious and substandard drugs will be eradicated at all costs from the province.

Governance crisis in Pakistan is augmented by discourses often not supported by empirical evidence. Feminist discourse usually considers political development integral to root-out discrimination against women: forced marriages, domestic violence, Rape, attack on or insulting modesty of women, and honor killing. Anti-women acts are often considered to be more frequent and intense in the under-developed areas with uphold of religion. However, empirical data suggest a rather different picture.

Statistics show that Lahore recorded the highest number of anti-women offences in 2012 (134 in total), followed by Faisalabad (110) and Multan (105). In cases of forced marriages Islamabad Capital territory shows 66% increase in 2012. In rape cases Lahore was top in ranking in the same year followed by Faisalabad. In cases of honor-killing Faisalabad has the highest reported cases in 2012. Province-wise patterns show that in 2012 Punjab recorded 17% increase, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shows 15% increase while Sindh shows 35% decline in anti-women offences. Baluchistan reported only three cases in the year 2012.

The above data shows that Islamabad being the most developed area in Pakistan recorded highest rate of forced marriages, Faisalabad the third largest economy of the country showed the highest rate of offences against women and Punjab the most developed province of the country shows highest frequency of anti-women crimes. Resultantly it can be stated that political development is not a panacea to anti-women crimes and under-development or religion is not necessarily the cause for such offences.

Kidnapping Stories Over Social Media are Baseless - Be Aware

Social Media is playing an important role in todays’ world and highlights issues that are important for the general public. Reports being published on social media regarding kidnapping of children are causing a lot of concerns amongst the public. 

CPLC plays a very important role in maintaining missing child data and integrity thereof. This data also does not support the reports being highlighted on social media. We are also very closely monitoring the situation and unable to verify the reports published on social media in this regard, which is causing great disturbance amongst the masses. 

During current year, only 06 child kidnapping cases are reported out of which 05 children have been recovered. Other cases of missing children have also been reported but no element of organized kidnapping was found in any such case. Most of these missing children have been re-united with their families after being traced out or self returned. It is important to note that all of the missing children are not kidnapped, most of them fled from domestic violence and other problems.

CPLC remains committed to its utmost in detection of these cases and assures the public that if such incidents are reported to CPLC helpline 1102, it will carry out due diligence to apprehend the criminals involve in this heinous crime and also ensure safe return of the victim.

Prime Minister Mian M. Nawaz Sharif Inaugurated Shorkot-Khanewal Section of Faisalabad-Multan Motorway M-4 today.

The project will be completed at a cost of around twenty-two billion rupees in two years.

After completion, the project will improve the country’s vital north-south road network and promote economic growth, create jobs and ensure regional connectivity.

The Motorway M-4 Faisalabad-Multan 240 kilometer is divided into four sections. Faisalabad-Gojra and Khanewal-Multan sections have already been completed, while work is underway on Gojra-Shorkot section. Work on the fourth section of Shorkot-Khanewal will begin on Saturday.

Alkhidmat in coordination with Al-Ehsan Welfare Trust arranged a free eye camp at the Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat Lahore.

Lahore, 08-08-2016: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan in coordination with Al-Ehsan Welfare Trust arranged a free eye camp at the Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat Lahore.
A team of medics including specialist doctors attended to the patients. Mr. Ihsan Ullah Waqas (Senior Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan) was also present on the occasion. A total of 421 patients benefited from the arrangement of the camp. Eye surgeries of 24 prisoners were suggested. Free medicine were distributed among 398 prisoners. 400 free glasses were also distributed among the eye patients. The Superintendent and the Deputy Superintendent thanked Alkhidmat Foundation & Al-Ehsan Trust for arranging the camp for the prisoners. Note that Alkhidmat Foundation works for the welfare of prisoner and arranges regular medical camps and training sessions for the inmates.

Metro feeder routes: 200 buses to reach Lahore in mid-Sept

As many as 200 buses to be run on feeder routes of the Metro Bus Service are set to reach the city by mid-September, a Daewoo Pakistan spokesperson told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.

He said an order had already been placed for these buses. The company would run these buses, 162 big-sized and 38 small-sized, under an agreement with the Punjab Mass-transit Authority (PMA) on 14 routes spread over 123 kilometers. The agreement has been signed for a six-year period. It can be extended with consent of both parties.

The spokesperson said Daewoo Pakistan was spending Rs3 billion for the procurement of these buses. He said that the Punjab Mass-transit Authority (PMA) would pay the company Rs165 (for big-sized buses) and Rs140 (for small-sized buses) per kilometre for operating these buses. The company estimates that around 200,000 passengers will travel on the feeder routes every day. The buses will be equipped with Automated Fare Collection and Bus Scheduling System (AFC-BSS) and global positioning system (GPS) tracking devices.

Official documents available with The Tribune state that the company will set up card (ticket) sale and recharge points at 22 locations along the feeder routes. These points will remain open during operations hours – estimated to be around 18 in a day. The company will also arrange 15 handheld electronic ticket validators for spot checking by ticket inspectors.

Earlier, PMA Operations General Manager Syed Uzair Shah had announced that buses for feeder routes would reach the city in August. He had said that the company hoped to arrange public transport facilities within 500 metres of each resident of the city. The authority planned to run around 1,400 standard or mini-buses on 104 routes covering 951 km, he had said.

As many as 35 articulated buses to be used for the Multan Metro Bus Service have reached the country, Daewoo Pakistan spokesperson said.

He said the 18-meter long articulated buses would start operations as soon as the construction of metro bus track was complete. “It is likely that the project will be inaugurated on the Independence Day,” he said.
