Have a vision …find the best way to make it come true

No doubt Pakistan is full of resources and intelligent youth but on the other hand this is the country which has compromised its sovereignty and integrity as in the case of drone attack and some other international issues.

Pakistan has touched the extreme of both aspect due to which sometime it seems that the country will rise up in the category of developed nations while some it seems that it is failing and lagging behind . According to British survey, my beloved country Pakistan has the world’s most intelligent and intellectual youth and with this research-based conclusion, another amazing fact is that Pakistan is the only country where youth constitute more than 65% of the population i-e more than 117 million. It means that most intellectual part of our population is in majority. And this is the aspect on which the word seems much concerned fearing that if the youth of Pakistan become productive, the country’s economy would thrive at top rate.

, if the youth of Pakistan want to go for a prosperous and bright future then first they must be loyal , sincere , and devoted to Pakistan and protect the ideology of country that would ultimate restore our pride and self-respect to enhance our action for ultimate definite success with high vision .
I, as social activist, got too many chances to get detailed interaction with youth in Pakistan. I have already interacted with youth from Kashmir and Karachi. I have noticed one major weakness in our youth. It is “lack of collective and correct vision”. Due to this issue the nation is still directionless as well as visionless. The best thing is that Pakistan is delivering delivering youth Icon to the word like Ali Moeen Nawazish – notable for making a world record by making 21 A’s in A’ level; Arfa Karim – the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional at the age of nine; Aitiza Hassan –a 15-year old boy who died while trying to save his school from a suicide bomber. The youth of Pakistan also trained in disaster management as we have already faced in critical situation like years of terrorism, tragic earthquake and floods.
Many social organization and NGOs have been working for youth in Pakistan. These organizations claim that they want to eliminate weaknesses of Pakistan with the help of youth but it seems that they are mainly interested in minting money or spreading some hidden agendas. You will be shocked to know that Pakistan is on the top in world to have mushroom growth of NGOs. I have worked with several NGOs and youth related platforms but only a few are doing their best. The small number is not encouraging but still I am hopeful that together we will bring some productive and revolutionary change in which several other thing would come up with “Roti Kapra our Makan” and the word “Tabdeeli “ will not be used merely as a slogan , if the youth of Pakistan want to go for a prosperous and bright future then first they must be loyal , sincere , and devoted to Pakistan and protect the ideology of country that would ultimate restore our pride and self-respect to enhance our action for ultimate definite success with high vision .  Think best, act best, and hope for the best of the best.

Is man superior to woman?

"The Quranic expression " الرجال قوامون علی النساء " has been misconstrued to codify man's inherent superiority over women. As some of the leading exegetes concur, the expression "Qawwam" only concerns man's position as head of the institution of family, a position that entails additional duties and responsibilities rather than either his inherent superiority or woman’s inferiority per se. And just as a senior authority within an organization can discipline a member for gross misconduct, so can a man in his capacity as head of the family deal with a delinquent member, including his wife, in cases of gross rebellious conduct. This cannot and should not be twisted to concoct license for physical torture and violence as a matter of routine even in minor cases of misdemeanor, lapses or mistakes as is commonly found in Pakistani society."
Except from my research work "Gender Empowerment in Quranic Perspective", to be published in book form soon, In Sha Allah.

I always thought that there was something wrong with me.

In school, I was bullied a lot for the way I looked. I always thought that there was something wrong with me. I got depressed and at times even suicidal. Every day seemed to be worse than the last... however, there were one or two amazing people in my life who pushed me and told me that I was better than those who couldn't see beyond someone's shape, size or form. I worked hard, and I was blessed in more ways then I could have ever imagined. The truth is that you need to work hard and not care about the noise or haters. Those who can never do anything with their lives will always try to bring others down... don't ever make it so easy for them to win. I am proud of who I am, the way I am and how I am... and you should be too. Whether it's girls competing with photoshopped ideas of supermodels and harming themselves or boys who are ridiculed for being a certain way... all that matters is the person you are and of course you should be healthy but in no way must you conform to someone else's expectation of what you should look like... Remember, work hard... and those who bully you today will be working for you tomorrow

Today on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in CPDI conference in Pearl continental( PC) , I had a detailed discussion with speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)  Asad Qaisar about the recent  changes that  has to be done in curriculum. He told me that all the books are reverted to its original format and all the Islamic essays are included again and books are going under process of publishing, but in the opposition benches, ANP is misinterpreting the issue and we have to deal them.
Later on,  we met Sardar Hussain Babak from ANP (Ex Minister for Education in KPK)  in a formal discussion asked him what would you do now as KPK Government  has made text books as previous and have made major changes in contrast to your designed curriculum. He replied, we would resist up to the maximum extent. I inquired, what the reason that you don’t want such a curriculum in the Pakistan. He told me, Certain Sura like Anfaal etc, and certain Islamic essays are spreading terrorism in Pushtoon youth ... and I got shocked by hearing that

HEC sent an e-mail to all heads of universities in Pakistan as a consequence of the latest debate on Social Media over images of stall of Israel set up at Global Village, WIMUN 14 in International Islamic University and a poster displayed which said, “Welcome to the land of peace and prosperity" for a state which is not accepted by Pakistan , we appreciate HEC for this act and congrats
The subject of the letter is “adherence to Ideology and the principal” of Pakistan.  It is written that Universities and degree awarding institute have a great responsibility of promoting ideally and principal of Pakistan through teaching, dialogues, meeting, conference, formal and informal gathering and social discourse. Dimension of such rightful perception promote nationalism, dispel confusion and infuse beliefs and principles that bring harmony in a society, and bolsters unity and performance.

Regretfully, It has been observed that few activities that are directly or indirectly hosted or sponsored by Universities or colleges including discussion or presentations contrary to the ideology and principle of Pakistan, perhaps due the fact that details  or not reviewed and approved discretely by the universities . Such instances not only vanish the image of an institute but fortify negativism and chaos.

In the view of the above, we would solicit your kind support to remain very vigilant and forestall any activity that in any manner challenge the ideology and principle of Pakistan, and /or perspective of the Government of Pakistan thereof

LUMS teacher found guilty of sexually harassing student

  • Federal ombudsperson directs prestigious university to remove Abid Imam from faculty
  • LUMS inquiry committee had termed incident as ‘unbecoming’ of a teacher but did not term it sexual harassment nor penalized Imam

The federal ombudsperson has directed the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) to remove Abid Hussain Imam, a faculty member at the varsity’s law department, over charges of sexually harassing a female student.
According to the judgement, a copy of which is available with Pakistan Today, the Federal Ombudsman Secretariat for Protection against Harassment of Women at Workplace set aside the decision of LUMS enquiry committee and handed a “removal from service” order to Imam. The LUMS administration has been directed to implement the order in letter and spirit.
Per details, the complainant, a student at LUMS’ Sheikh Ahmed Hassan School of Law, had filed an appeal with the ombudsperson against the decision of the LUMS enquiry committee, alleging that Imam remarked of “mala fide intention to harass her” and then “touched her shoulder”.
Following a probe into the incident, the varsity’s enquiry committee had termed it “unbecoming” of a teacher and even directed Imam to write an apology to the student but had not considered it a matter warranting harassment charges. The committee and varsity’s vice chancellor had also not imposed any penalty on the teacher.
The ombudsperson, however, affirmed that the “conduct and behavior” of the teacher amounts to sexual harassment.
“The act of the respondent was a sexual demeaning attitude, which somehow has been admitted by the teacher himself and by the enquiry committee in its report. Whereas on ground of delay in filing appeal it is observed that such technicalities have to be avoided to meet the end of justice and give protection to human rights,” read the decision.
The federal ombudsperson added that over fear of losing a “brilliant teacher”, the LUMS enquiry committee did not deem the case as one involving sexual harassment despite the fact that the committee found the teacher to be guilty of sexually harassing the student.
Abid Hussain Imam is the son of senior politicians Syeda Abida Hussain and Syed Fakhar Imam and is also related to Syed Babar Ali, the pro-vice chancellor of LUMS. His mother Abida Hussain has served at various important positions, including Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States.
LAWYER CONTESTS VERDICT:
Waqqas Mir, counsel for Abid Imam before the LUMS enquiry committee, said it did not constitute “harassment” as per the Harassment Act, besides the victim filed the petition against Imam after the lapse of the prescribed time under law.
“Sexual harassment is a serious issue but if we don’t set the right standard before pronouncing guilt, it would become very difficult for teachers to work in any university,” Mir said.
