"Gul Mar Jan ye na Mani" is a most popular slogan chanted in Afghanistan and now a days in Pakistan as well after a Pashto comedy Drama with the title " Gul Marjan Ye Na Mani", starring Comedian "Ismail Shahid" as "Gul Marian". So this "Gul Marjan ye na Mani" became superduper hit phrase here. The real story behind this phrase is:
Actually "Gul Marjan was a University student in Afghanistan who rejected the schedule/timetables for classes, exams or mess. He refused himself these things, saying that "Gul Marjan Ye Na Mani".
At that time this sentence went all the way across the university and every one was saying "Gul Marjan ye na mani" and
"Gul Marjan ye na Mani".
So,"Gul Marjan" was taunted by this phrase on daily basis, mostly by his friends and other students. Finally he migrated to another university to get rid of this self made phrase,
"Gul Marjan ye na mani".
While his old fellows managed to inform their friends and other students of his newly migrated university to call him with,
"Gul Marjan Ye Na Mani" and thus as a result "Gul Marjan" left that University also and became a street vendor of vegetables in Kabul. People there also teased him, by calling him,
"Gul Marjan ye na mani", or
"Gul Mar Jan ye wali na mani",
"Da Gul Marjan ba ye hagha plar hum mani", and
"Gul marjan ba ye sanga na mani".
At last "Gul Marjan" left the Kabul city and went somewhere about, any one does not know him to call and tease him with slogan
"Gul Marjan ye mani".
These slogans were also chanted very commonly after the Afghan Presidential elections in which Ashraf Ghani defeated Dr. Abdullah Abdullah (Double Abdullah) who is sarcastically called as "Gul Marjan".
when he lost in Presidential elections, he refused the results and alleged that Elections were rigged. He demanded for re elections then people of Afghanistan started to call him "Gul Marjan".
So these sentences like
"Gul marjan ye na mani",
"Gul marjan ye wali na mani",
"Da Gul Marjan ba ye Hagha plar hum Mani", went extremely viral.

your post is really appreciated.I heard many times about this slogan, but i was not sure that what is the fact. I searched for GUl Marjan that why Gul marjan ye na many,, while flipping through your post now I came to now that what was the story behind.
