EQ is as important as IQ

Leave a Comment
After successive studies conducted at research centers of international repute, it is now globally recognized that despite outstanding IQ reflected in their academic profile, individuals badly fail in practical life due to poor EQ. Many MNCs are now taking care of this important aspect of their HR and productivity. There are eight competencies that can and should be developed by each individual to enhance his emotional intelligence, and, together with their IQ, do wonders. These are:
(1).Enhance Emotional Literacy (Accurately identify & understand feelings & emotions, both your own and those of others);
(2). Recognize Patterns (Acknowledge frequently recurring reactions/behavior to external stimuli);
(3). Apply Consequential Thinking (Evaluate the costs & benefits of your reactions & available choices);
(4). Navigate Emotions (Instead of suppressing, channelize and transform emotions as source of strength & motivation);
(5).Engage Intrinsic Motivation (Get energy & drive from personal values irrespective of reward & punishment);
(6). Exercise Optimism (Stay positive, never cease to hope & struggle for a positive outcome even against all odds);
(7). Empathize (Put yourselves in others’ shoes, understand their emotional state & respond appropriately);
(8). Pursue Noble Goals (Rise above your petty prejudices, concerns, interests, & work for higher goals, goals that serve the interests of humanity at large).
